lakshana-recipes: Beetroot Chutney


Ingredients
  • Beetroot - 1 small length (chopped or shredded)
  • Shallot - 10-15 
  • Garlic - 1small (sliced)
  • Coconut - 1 tbsp (shredded)
  • Cumin - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander - 1 half tsp
  • Channa dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Red chillies - five
  • Tamarind - small gooseberry size
  • Salt to flavor
  • Oil as required

Method
  • Heat oil to the pan on high medium flame.
  • Add all the elements except beetroot & coconut.
  • Fry until the onions turn translucent. Now upload the beetroot & fry well. 
  • Keep stirring. It have to be at least half cooked. Do no longer add water.
  • Now add the coconut & supply a quick mix & remove from warmth. Don't over fry the coconut.
  • Cool & grind it to easy chutney.
  • This is going nicely with idly or dosa.
